Analysis of Seismicity in Elbasani Geothermal Zone during Five Last Decades

During the last five decades since 1968, Elbasani zone in Albania is dominated by low seismicity. This fault has evidenced some seismological phenomena. It a transversal active with normal and strike-slip faults characterized low-velocity layers. From instrumental seismicity this area have been located 1831 seismic events, magnitude ML > 1.1 Richter 3 of them 5.0. Recently on May 19, 2014, moderate earthquake ML5.2 occurred seismogenic zone. was 6 km southeast Belshi town 18 south felt over Albania. The analysis during period time 968-2022 years indicates that most earthquakes were upper middle earth crust very few uppermost mantle. focal mechanisms solution an extensional regime parameters indicate predominance motion compatible present-day extension regime. Elbasan complex geological structure significant number geothermal water resources features provides us correct interpretations seismotectonic, velocity lowers understanding geodynamic phenomena Earth's crust. presents threat to city curative tourist Llinxha-Hidrat.
